Genre For Our Final Project

The genre we have chosen for our final project will be crime drama. The reason for this is because crime drama is a perfect way to highlight representation, more specifically in terms of social class as it will be easy to show the difference between regular citizens and detectives, criminals etc. It also means we will be available to highlight the the representation of age and gender as these are common factors in crime drama, most often women are shown in severely vulnerable situations whilst teenagers are often shown as disruptive and violent. This means it would be much easier for us to highlight representation using crime drama as our genre. Using crime drama subsequently means that there will naturally be elements of a typical thriller (slightly before and during a crime scene) and horror (also during the crime scene).
